YOU could tell that high winds had been forecast for Sunday by the boats the competitors at Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club had chosen.

For the noon race — Tamar 2 — there were five Toppers, a Bosun with small sails and Bob Sampson's 4.7 Laser, which took an early lead and kept it throughout. There was plenty of action among the Toppers; Eliot Pomeroy overtaking James Pollard and Vicki Duncalf and Sue Murray picking up places as well.
