CLUB captain Chris Tibbetts will represent Launceston Swimming Club at this year’s Swim England South West Regional Summer Championships at the Plymouth Life Centre this weekend.

Chris (pictured right) has been a member at Launceston for nearly eight years, and always takes pride in wearing his swimming club top to events and competitions.

Chris said: “When I started swimming I would never have guessed I could make it to Regionals and compete in the 17 & Over age category, and I hope my achievements are inspiring and motivating to our younger swimmers, all of whom have the ability and opportunity to reach as high, or higher than what I have managed.”

Chris who began as a young swimmer, has also been a dedicated member of the club by undertaking a role as a poolside volunteer to assist with the junior squad. More recently, Chris qualified as a Level One swimming coach and now assists as part of the coaching team.

Chris has been training with the club’s Level 2 coaches Fran Baker and Emma Rivers this year and will be competing in the 50 Freestyle and 50 Backstroke events.

He added: “I look forward to representing the swimming club at this meet and would like to thank all members of the club for their support and guidance.”

Launceston Swimming Club runs weekly swimming sessions at Launceston Leisure Centre for local swimmers who wish to develop their swimming skills and potentially compete at a local and regional level.
