THE South West Peninsula League got underway last week with all Post area clubs getting underway.

Inside are reports and reactions from all the Premier West sides including heavy defeats away from home for Camelford and Launceston while Bude Town picked up a useful opening day point at home to Newquay and Callington did likewise in the season curtain-raiser at title hopefuls Liskeard last Tuesday (August 2).

In Premier East we hear from Holsworthy joint boss Ryan Hall following their narrow defeat at Dartmouth.

The rugby season starts in just 24 days with Launceston visiting Camborne in their Regional South West One opener and on Saturday they had their first pre-season run-out.

Barnstaple and Maidenhead were the opposition with each side facing off in a half-hour game. There’s reaction and pictures from the day.

Cricket wise there’s two pages as ever with one dedicated to the tables and a round-up from across all divisions right from the ECB Cornwall Premier League down to Division Six East, while the other has all the scores and fixtures plus reports from Callington and Werrington as they battle to survive in the Premier.

There’s also reaction from captains Nick Lawson (Werrington), Warren Rumble (Bude) and Ryan Walter (Holsworthy).

Inside there’s also the latest from Upper Tamar Sailing Club and the local bowls scene including success for Bude in the Gawler Cup.
