THE North Cornwall Table Tennis League are looking for new teams to join ahead of the 2019/20 season which gets underway in early October.

The sport has grown locally during the last five years in terms of clubs, teams and players.

The North Cornwall League is particularly interested in increasing the number of players and teams at the beginners’ level in readiness for the start of the season.

Division Three (the lowest division) matches are two-a-side (four singles sets and a doubles set) and usually start at 7.30pm (finishing around 9pm) — ideal for meeting different players, seeing different venues and adding a competitive edge to more casual play.

Match secretary, Dave Salisbury said: “Table tennis is one of the most accessible and affordable sports there is. The benefits are numerous, it improves balance, reflexes, and hand-eye co-ordination, it is good exercise, it keeps your brain sharp, and it increases social interaction, to name just a few. It can be played by virtually anyone, young or old. It can be played competitively or just for fun.”
