TEAM Blast competed in the ‘Rock Solid Race’ on Saturday, March 19, and completed the course in an impressive two hours despite the harsh conditions.

Blast fitness instructor Matt Luxton, who took on the course along with his team, said: “Now if I told most people that we would run around some fields, crawl through mud and it would be fun, they would laugh at me, but with this being the fourth consecutive year that we have done it, each time with new and different people joining our team, its fair to say some of them know what’s coming, whilst, for others, entering the unknown offers an exciting new challenge.

“Saturday was by far the hardest of the obstacle course runs that we have done, not so much for the distance or obstacles but the conditions.

The team battled through the course, conquering it in just around the two-hour mark.

For those that have been part of our team training on a Wednesday night, they had been exposed to the strength demands required and, on occasions in February, the weather conditions too brought some challenges!

“We have been flipping tyres, dragging sleds, pushing prowlers and working on upper body strength so I knew that would stand them in good stead — but Saturday was bitterly cold and it saps your strength!

“Most of us spent the rest of the day trying to warm up again, yet finding ourselves discussing the next event in August which will be Tough Mudder (TM).

“I couldn’t be prouder of them all, especially those who have never done one before, the camaraderie shown in the team to help each other get through the areas they were most scared of and watching a few people accomplish certain challenges and overcome their fears was awesome — I know they will be back for more in the summer in Cirencester when we take on TM.

“That event will be different, the water features and obstacles will be a welcome cool down spot and the cider afterwards wont require warming up!”
