BUDEHAVEN A-Level student Jobe Harriss overcame some of the most challenging conditions ever seen at the British Surfing Championships to stand out in the Newquay hosted event.

Competitors made the most of the better weather on Friday, and Jobe surfed his way into the Men's Open Final, the Pro Junior Semi-Finals (under 21) and quarter-finals of the under 18 event.

He took part in only one heat of the under 18 contest before it was cancelled for the rest of the day due to some incredible weather.

Sunday saw the competition relocate to Tolcarne Beach, where Jobe made all three finals, winning every heat bar one to get there.

His finals ended up being back to back, owing to limited time, and so he was in the water for an hour and 10 minutes all told.
