These were the words of Don Slee at the division's AGM, held in December, as he relinquished his role as skipper.

"I am under no illusion that I may please some of the people some of the time," he continued, "but not all the people all the time. I will be judged as to how well I faired in this respect."

He also passed thanks and apologies in advance for any omissions.

Noted were Rob Loughran as vice-captain, for all his support; Robin Johnson for his thorough work as treasurer; Glenn Timmins for auditing the accounts; Derek Ratcliffe for his work as secretary; most important, Rodney Duke, as press secretary; Neville Helme for acting as chairman of this meeting; Mac McKenzie as president; Graham Gallimore and the green staff for providing such an excellent course; Alan Creber and Phil Honey in the office for their support; John Tozer and Adam in the pro shop for helping with competitions and cards; Julie and Joe and all the bar and catering staff for the excellent food and efficient and cheerful service; Beth Ratcliffe for keeping a photographic record of the year; his wife, Catherine, for her unstinting support, assistance, forbearance and understanding throughout the year.
