Ross-on-Wye Rowing Club were at the Evesham Regatta which took place on the Saturday and Sunday of the Bank Holiday weekend and returned with six wins, five by the talented Juniors.
On Saturday two senior crews competed in small boats but came away empty-handed against some tough local opposition. The Women's Masters B double scull of Beth Perrou and Karen Thorpe-Williams faced Milton Keynes in the final, but the more experienced crew came through in a hard-fought race. Similarly, Mike Jones faced an old adversary in the Masters E single scull and came off second best after rowing well in his first race of the season.
On Sunday, a larger contingent of Ross rowers took part in the sprint event, represented by both seniors and juniors. The Women's Masters E coxed 4 (Nicky Wilde, Sarah Sykes, Annie Scott, Chris Hughes [cox: Bryn Hughes]) prevailed by three feet in a hugely exciting final against Bewdley.
