SISTERS Sarah Burns and Lucy Morwood have both overcome one of the country's toughest sporting feats — the UK?Ironman Challenge.
Held recently, the event comprises a 2.4 mile swim, a 112 mile bike and a 26.2 mile run.
Incredibly, the girls, who both attended Marhamchurch Primary School and St Joseph's School, Launceston, had no idea the other would be taking part up until Royal engineer Lucy's return from Afghanistan in March.
Thirty-year-old Sarah is currently an SHO in Plymouth, and she completed the whole event in 10 hours, 56 minutes and three seconds, with a marathon time of three hours, 31 minutes — coming first in the 30 to 34-year-olds' age group and fifth female overall.
