semi final
Callington Town 4
Cheltenham CS 1
Callington's excellent season continued as they booked their place in their second cup final against Taunton-based Bishops Lydeard.
Sam Veale and Sarah Winn were dominant on the flanks and it was no surprise when they took a 20th minute lead when Veale swung in an in-swinging corner towards the back post to cross the goal line only to see another effort pushed onto the crossbar.
Then a superb Veale free kick was volleyed home from six yards by Jodie Shipton for her 10th goal of the season. Cheltenham deservedly reduced the arrears through Laura Donnelly. The goal rejuvenated the visitors but it was Callington who got the all important next goal when Sarah Winn raced past a defender before lobbing the goalkeeper from 25 yards. Callington's route to the final was sealed on the hour mark when Veale scored her second goal from a 30-yard free kick.
This Sunday Callington have the Cornwall FA Women's Cup Final against Newquay Celtic. They will be trying to retain their trophy at St Dennis Football Club with a 2:30pm kick off.
