TEAM GB's Olympic participants provided inspiration to the members of the Upper Tamar Lake Sailing Club on the weekend commencing August 11.
There was a large fleet of fifteen boats starting this race, all fresh from watching the Olympic sailors and trying to emulate Ben Ainslie!
Bob Samson and crew James Pollard (RS 200) made the best start, and he was followed on the beat downwind to west mark by Nicky Buckett (Laser), Vicki Duncalf (Laser Radial), Roger Heasman (Streaker), Toby Tobias and Nathan Pollard (Bosun), and John Duncalf in his Topper.
The second leg was a reach to inlet mark and here the fleet started to spread out, with Roger starting to move up the field and overtake a few. The slower boats (on handicap) were having their own race further down the field.
