CORNISH All Blacks joint head coach, Ryan Westren, says his side’s focus is solely on relegation-threatened Cullompton ahead of their clash at Polson Brdge on Saturday.

Before their thrilling 42-39 victory at Weston-super-Mare-based Hornets 12 days ago, the All Blacks had lost four of their previous six games to fall off the top of the Tribute South West One (West) standings.

Following the results last time, Launceston are three points off leaders Okehampton heading into the final six fixtures of the season which start on Saturday against a side who have won just twice all season.

Westren said: “We had a look at the things we got right and the things we got wrong at Hornets. We played some very good stuff, but at the same time we allowed them to get back into the game when they shouldn’t have.

“But the break has given us a chance to get our injured players back and they should all be in contention.

“Torin Clarke played the full 80 minutes for Cornwall Under 20s on Sunday so should be in the mix, Marc Williams has got through two or three weeks of training, Adam Collings is hopefully back to training this week so should be available if required and Will Morton is another one where if his week of training goes well, could be involved.”

Cullompton have struggled with injuries for most of the year and look set for a return to Western Counties (West), however Westren isn’t taking them lightly.

He said: “Unless they’re mathematically relegated then they’ll keep fighting and they had a great result against Keynsham recently. They were ravaged by injuries at the start of the year but we can’t afford to have that mentality where we think we just need to turn up. We have to approach every game right and play to the best of our ability, but if we don’t then there could be repercussions down the line.”

Although Okehampton have a potentially difficult clash at home to St Ives on Saturday, Westren knows that all they can do is keep applying the pressure.

He said: “All we can do is try to pick up maximum points from the games we have. What Okehampton do is now out of our control due to our recent form.”

Kick-off at Polson Bridge is at 2.30pm.
