IT WILL be a family affair at Polson this coming season, after a pair of brothers signed for the Cornish All Blacks.

Sam Chapman, who has been with the club for five years, will be joined on the field by his younger brother, Luke.

Prop Luke, 19, signed an academy contract with the Exeter Chiefs before spending last season at Plymouth Albion.

He didn’t get as much game time as he would have liked, so was keen to put pen to paper with the Cornish side.

"Sam was on to me for weeks and I decided to sign. It will be good and it will be nice for our parents to come and watch. I’m looking forward to actually playing some proper game time to find some form."

Luke said there was a positive vibe around pre-season training, with players eager to start the league games.

"It’s coming together now. I think more people are signing and more people are turning up for training. Mike’s definitely more confident than when I spoke to him at the start of the season. I think there’s key players there and if we can build around them, we’ll be ok. I can’t see us going down with the squad we’ve got this season."

Twenty-one year old Sam, who plays at centre, said he was initially hesitant about his future with the club.

"It was not knowing what was going to happen but as soon as they explained the situation and said there’s players coming back, there was no hesitation after that."

The brothers, who live in Looe, played rugby together in college a few years back and also when Luke was on loan to Launceston from Albion. Sam said they were looking forward to uniting again on the field.

"I think it will do Luke good. He didn’t get the game time that he wanted at Albion. I think coming to Launceston will make him a better player."
