Cornish All Blacks 14

Bideford 12

THE?Cornish All Blacks’ final pre-season fixture proved to be a success as their forwards earned them a victory over a resilient Bideford at Polson Bridge.

The visitors took a first half lead before the home side rummaged their way over twice in the second-half to earn a morale-boosting win.

Director of rugby, Jimmy Tucker was delighted with their afternoon’s work.

He said: “I am very pleased and relieved to get the win. It was a fairly error-strewn game but that’s what you expect in pre-season.

“At the end of the day the players are fighting desperately to get into that team for next week so mistakes are bound to happen.

“However we played with a really good spirit and tempo and that really pleased me.

“I was very impressed with Mark Williams at number eight although I think we missed the calmness of Ryan Westren in our backline.

“But all-in-all it was another great work out ahead of next week so there’s lots to be pleased about ahead of a tough test on Saturday.”
