LAUNCESTON Colts have won the Trelawney’s Army Cornwall RFU Colts Shield after defeating their Camborne counterparts 40-22 in the final at Tregorrick Park, St Austell.
With the wind in their faces, Launceston took an early lead from a try by Joe Stansfield, but Camborne struck back with two tries in quick succession. However just before half-time Charlie Tummon scored from a quickly taken penalty, which Tom Lowe converted, to take them in at the interval 12-10 ahead.
From the start of the second-half, Launceston settled into their game and with the forwards dominating play, a flurry of tries were scored by Ollie Bebbington (2), Sam Jago and Charlie Short which were all converted by Lowe, taking the game out of Camborne’s reach.
Team manager, Miles Tummon, said: “It was a brilliant team performance, which can hopefully be replicated when we take on Okehampton in the Cornwall vs Devon Shield on Saturday, May 4.”
