LAUNCESTON Colts won the Cornwall County U18s Shield final on Friday night, beating last season’s County Champions Camborne RFC Colts 20-14 in a very exciting and tough game played at Wadebridge Rugby Club.
Launceston scored two tries in the first half, both scored by centre Tom Osborne, and were winning 10-7 at the break.
In the second half Launceston scored two further tries, this time through hooker Harry Lightfoot — following a superb catch and drive from a lineout, and second row Hugh Green.
It was a tight, hard fought match played in a good spirit by two very good sides with Launceston deservedly coming out on top.
It certainly goes to show that despite the dismal season the first team at Launceston Rugby Club has had, there is a bright future ahead through the excellent youth set up they have.
The Shield win will give everyone involved with the club something much-needed to smile about.
