Friendly Match
Okehampton 2XV 60
Launceston 2XV 21
LAUNCESTON 2nd XV travelled to Okehampton for a friendly game on Saturday and ended up on the wrong end of the 60-21 scoreline.
The Polson?Bridge outfit travelled with a bare 15-man squad with more forwards than backs, and they came up against a well-drilled Okehampton side.
Okehampton punished Launceston in the backs and turned over a lot of ball. The visitors’ scrummage was on top form but they suffered with a lack of pace in the backs as the home side ran riot.
Coach/former player Mike Haines said: “It was a tough day at the office but the lads stuck in their and played until the end, but it wasn’t the best of games.”
This Saturday Launceston seconds host a touring squad from Bromyard RFC in Herefordshire at Polson, with a 2.30pm kick-off. The Six Nations games will be shown in the clubhouse afterwards.
