THREE tries from Angus Hodges and two more for Ed Hilliam-Cooke sped Bude towards victory and left Wessex tottering on the brink of relegation.

Bude are unlikely to finish higher than fifth, although the magnitude of this win will worry Saltash, who have to go their next on their promotion trail.

Wessex are propping up the table with games in hand and can still stay up if they win a few.

Having gone four games without a win, Wessex’s prospects don’t look good.

Bude took the lead after 36 seconds with a try by Hodge and were 26-0 up by half time.

Tully Innes drove over, Hodges got a second and Ollie Denford finished a 70-metre move with a try he also converted.

Hilliam-Cooke was next over, Denford converting, then Wessex got on the sheet with a Dan Lock try that Andy Alderman improved.

The one-way traffic resumed with Hodges, Hilliam-Cooke and finally Rory Hodges all adding tries.
