CORNISH All Blacks played some great rugby in their last local derby against Redruth for a while.

Despite their efforts, which were greatly improved, the home side were beaten, but the final score wasn’t a clear reflection of the game.

All Blacks were first on the board with a penalty kicked by Fraser Honey, who had a good game.

Redruth replied with a try from skipper Chris Fuca, converted by David Mankee.

The visitors were string and Neilson Webber broke away from the pack and passed the ball to Lewis Vinnicombe who bounced off three tackles to touch down for a try. The conversion attempt hit the post. A few minutes later though, Webber scored his own try, and again the conversion was missed.

All Blacks put on a great show of rugby, with real fire in their bellies. Six more points came their way with two further penalties kicked by Honey. Bringing the score to 9-17.

Launceston were then deep in Redruth’s half. They passed the ball down the line and Richard Friend went over for an unconverted try.

The home side were now only three points behind and it was a wake up call for the visitors. In the last few minutes of the first half, All Blacks dug deep and managed to keep the visitors from scoring again.

All Blacks made a good start to the second period, but it wasn’t long before Redruth scored again when Fuca got his second try, converted by Mankee.

The home side conceded a number of penalties, and gave Redruth a number of chances to score, but they didn’t. Honey then scored another penalty, extending the All Blacks’ score to 17.

In the dying minutes of the game, Fuca scored his third try and Luke Jones got another soon after.

The game slipped away from All Blacks’ grasp in the last ten minutes, but despite the loss, the team were boosted by their performance during the last home game of the season.
