CORNISH All Blacks suffered another heavy defeat on the road as Chinnor secured their place in National South for an other season.
The already-relegated Cornishmen conceded 11 tries, but it was at least an improvement on their previous away day, when they lost 109-0 at leaders Cambridge, though it was hardly the way they would have wanted to prepare for this Saturday’s Duchy derby at home to Redruth.
Chinnor — who included a host of familiar faces to West Country rugby fans in their line-up, including former All Blacks lock Nathan Hannay — took an early lead with a try by former Redruth and Cornwall scrum half Greg Goodfellow, after he sold a dummy from a breakdown, converted by fly-half Sam Angell.
On-loan Cornish Pirates full-back Kieran Goss added a second in the 24th minute, and three minutes later, fly-half Henry Lamont also crossed, with Angell improving both for a 21-0 lead.
The visitors hit back with a 35th-minute penalty from fly-half Fraser Honey, but Goss brought up the bonus point for Chinnor with his second try, a fine solo effort, again converted by Angell.
There was still time in the half for Chinnor to collect their fifth try of the match, courtesy of a superb chip-and-chase score from right winger Oscar Heath, with Angell keeping up his 100 percent record with the boot to make it 35-3 at the interval.
Chinnor picked up where they left off after the break, with a second try from Heath, this time converted by Goodfellow.
It was 42-3 after an hour but in the final quarter the tiring All Blacks shipped another 33 points.
Lamont, Hannay, Goodfellow, Ben Manning and skipper and former Pirates loanee James Tyas added further touchdowns, with Goodfellow and Heath (3) slotting the extras.
