On a grey and overcast afternoon Ross-on-Wye entertained Pencombe in the first Sunday friendly fixture of the season at The Park. This regular fixture is usually a high scoring and fiercely competitive game but, this year, the damp conditions were always going to make batting difficult.

Ross captain Andrew Stacey won the toss and chose to bowl, opening the bowling with himself and Harry Porter. With both bowlers on form wickets soon began tumbling and the visitors quickly found themselves 17-3.

Charlie 'Badger' Cole then added two further wickets and at 45-5 a total of under 100 was on the cards. Enter Alan Davies who thrived in the conditions and dispatched the ball to all parts with a brisk 71 off of only 55 balls before falling to Andrew Bailey.

Richard Jeffryes and James Tiffen then mopped up the tail with two wickets apiece as Pencombe closed at 126 all out.
