ON SUNDAY, February 15, 12 members of Launceston Road Runners took part in the Barcelona Half Marathon.
Although club members participate in races all over the UK and indeed, all over the world, this was the largest group entry for an overseas race to date from the club.
They travelled with the tour operator, Running Krazy, who provide tailored packages for race participators, the runners were a mix of seasoned Half Marathon runners and 'first timers'.
Ann Barriball, a member of the group that attended the trip, said: "The weather conditions were excellent and the flat course — such a treat for our runners after all their training on Launceston's hills! — took in a large figure of eight, with the final stretch following the city's Mediterranean coast before heading back into the city centre for the finish line.
"The atmosphere was fantastic, with live street bands on every corner and a cosmopolitan crowd cheering on racers of all abilities and nationalities.
"The Launceston Road Runners and their friends and families all enjoyed some well deserved time off before and after the race to enjoy Barcelona's magnificent culture and shopping!"
