The 50 years covered by the history books recording the achievements at Ross-on-Wye Golf Club may need re-writing after 21-year-old Harvey Hancock achieved a remarkable double success recently.

His performance as a six handicapper with 127 men members taking part in the annual Spring Scratch and Handicap event, saw him card a gross 73 score, nett 67 to win both scratch and handicap prizes.

His round included three birdies where he was one under gross par after nine holes. Despite dropped shots at the 17th and 18th holes, his one over par gross score meant a four shots cushion over his nearest rivals. In the scratch category these were Jason Bolton with a 77 and Steve Wallbank and Robert Beavis who were both 80s.
