Narberth Netball Club has had its most successful year so far and Lynn and Kathy would like to pay tribute to all the players who come week after week and parents who support the players in the Saturday league games/tournaments and trips throughout the season.
The club is pleased now to be able to offer an extra training session to ages 16-18 and adults. They have been very pleased to see A-level pupils return to training and look forward to welcoming back the adults again in September. The junior sessions have been thriving and it is on the back of this that Narberth was so successful in the Pembrokeshire Inter-club competition in March, with three teams finishing runners-up and representing Pembrokeshire in the County Inter-club competition. They played excellent netball with the U15s missing out by only one point on getting to the final in Cardiff.
Some Junior players have been very successful this year, being selected and re-selected to play for Carmarthen and Pembrokeshire County. So congratulations to Chloe Harry, Indigo Young, Emily Griffiths, Rosie Mammatt, Aoife Sharpe, Cerys Hicks, Hannah Clayton, Josie Dodd and Poppy Griffiths.
Also a special mention to Imogen McHarg for selection to the High Performance hub The club wishes her well in the. Swansea League this summer and is looking forward to watching her progress and fulfilling her dreams of reaching the highest level.
The U15s are going on tour with coach Lynn Howells to Butlins in July. It will be a wonderful experience and great fun - the girls are so excited, but probably not as excited as Lynn!
The summer trip this year started in the Sports Centre at Trinity in Carmarthen with some netball games for the U11s and Netball Olympics. Swimming and a trip to laser station with food ended an exhausting fun day.
The club's awards evening was held again at the Alpha Inn, Tavernspite, and a special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Hughes for their generous support again. The following awards were presented:
U15 Player of the year - Indigo Young, U15s Players player - Caitlin Edwards, U13 Player of the year was shared between Cerys Hicks and Poppy Griffiths, U13s Players player - Josie Dodd, U11s Player of the year - Gwen Dodd, U11s Players player - Olivia Disney.
The Lynn Howells most improved player was Rosie Bell, Rising star awards were won by U11s player Rachael Simpkins and U13s player Florence Thompstone.
Two other awards were presented for commitment to Megan Hicks and achievement to Imogen McHarg.
All players who play in the Pembrokeshire League received a trophy and those who attend just training a medal.
The season will end with the summer tournament in Pembroke and everyone is looking forward to starting back on Thursday, September 10: U11s (school years 3, 4, 5 and 6) from 5 - 6 pm; U13s (school years 7 and 8) from 6 - 7 pm, U15s (school years 9 and 10) and adults from 7 -8 pm.
