A TRIO of local men have returned from taking on the Six Peaks Challenge in aid of the British Heart Foundation, having beat it convincingly.
Climbers Mick Foster, 68, from Bude and Jim Baker, 70, from Launceston, along with road manager and driver Ken Johns, 60, conquered the six highest mountains in the British Isles, each of them in a different country — Ben Nevis, Scotland; Scafell Pike, England; Mount Snowdon, Wales; Slieve Donard, Northern Ireland; and Caurantoohil, Ireland.
The challenge entails climbing up and down all six mountains, as well as all travelling involved in between — incorporating two ferry crossings — within 72 hours.
