The ninth Generation Tennis Tournament was played at Shebbear College on a recent Sunday morning.
With the exam season well underway and 4th form exams looming, there were slightly fewer entries than normal. Therefore the preliminary round was played in a round robin format.
All the matches were played in good humour and Mr Trask only threw his racket a couple of times. At the end of the round robin, three partnerships were tied on 17 points. Gregoire Douin and Mr Trask automatically went through to the final for having won the most matches.
Quentin Herbelin and Mrs Cardoo took the second spot in the final as they had beaten the other pair of Daniel Da Costa and Connor Roberts in the previous round.
Gregoire and Mr Trask had beaten Quentin and Mrs Cardoo in the previous round and seemed to be sure winners of the trophy as they got off to a 2-0 lead, but Quentin and Mrs Cardoo regrouped and with Quentin's blistering forehand, claimed the next three games to win the title.
