After getting their season back on track with an 8-2 win at Tavistock E, the Looe B team of Terry Lewis, Guillaume Pleven, Richard Sayer and Dickie Lovelock locked horns with Saltash B, at home, on the Hannafore courts.
However, the Plymouth and District Division Five match was temporarily delayed as the players were made aware of a lady and her dogs being in danger of being cut off by the tide on the beach nearby.
Both teams helped with ex-police dog handler Richard Sayer bringing his 25 years of experience to the fore, in making sure that the dogs and their owner were safely returned to dry land.
The match then resumed and in the blustery conditions the Looe team prevailed, winning 6-5 in a keenly fought contest.
In division 3 the men's A team remain at the top of the table after a 7-3 home victory over Tavistock C and in division 7 the new men's C team extended their unbeaten entry into the league with a 5-4 win at Whiteford Road B.
In the ladies' matches in division 2 the A Team continue to hold their own with a 4-4 home draw against St Budeaux and a 5-5 draw away at Tavistock.
In division 4 the B team suffered their first defeat going down 4-6 to Yelverton B.
The new ladies C team are finding the going tough in division 5. Playing away to league leaders Saltash A in windy and wet conditions, many of the games went to deuce but the home team prevailed with an impressive 8-0 win.
