MANY years ago this area was blessed with a well known sports journalist called Ralph Stacey, who wrote under the pen name of 'Pivot', and who was respected throughout the whole country. As a result of contracting cancer, he sadly passed away at an early age. Since that time, The North Devon Football League and Kingsley League have competed annually for what is known as the Pivot Trophy, all the proceeds of which go to Cancer Research. The match is played alternatively in the North Devon or Kingsley League areas. The trophy was shared as the match finished all level 3-3.
