Taunton Vale 2 1

CARA Phillips scored a hat-trick as Bude ended their recent poor form with a convincing 4-1 victory over Taunton Vale seconds at Budehaven Sports Centre.

The home side started the game well and took the lead thanks to Phillips’ brilliant strike before she added a second from a short corner before the break.

The visitors pulled one back early in the second-half but Phillips completed her hat-trick with another strike from the top of the D.

The game was fast paced and it certainly wasn’t one sided as Bude took it to their mid-table visitors.

The quick thinking from the forwards, Emily Shears and Zara Higham forced Taunton Vale’s defence to be drawn into the corners allowing for space to be made in the D.

Hannah Maloney, Grace Chan, Lou Shepherd, Claire James and Cara Phillips were all solid in defence with Rachael Pomeroy making some superb saves when called upon.

There was great pace in midfield from Emily Shepherd, Claire Pipe, Katharine Muller, Charlotte Prime and Anna Bury, who late into the second-half, scored from a great crossover into the D from Charlotte Prime, as Bude picked up their first win since November 11.

The victory moved them four points clear off second bottom Okehampton ahead of their next game at Plymouth Marjon seconds on Saturday, February 24.
