BOSCASTLE and Crackington Gig Club held their third annual regatta at Boscastle Harbour on Saturday, September 2.

Blessed once again with glorious weather and great sea rowing conditions, clubs from Bude, Port Isaac, Appledore and Torridge joined together with the host club for some great competitive racing and camaraderie, both on and off the water.

Boscastle provided a barbecue plus cakes, a bar and a raffle for everyone, raising much needed money for their ever expanding club.

The trophies were presented by chairman Phoebe Millar with Torridge winning the Lady Vets race and Appledore taking home the Ladies’ A and Ladies’ B awards. The remaining races, the Men’s A and B and Men’s Vets and the Mixed race, were all won by Boscastle, giving them the overall winners trophy, marginally beating Appledore.

Sincere thanks were expressed to the Bude Sub-Aqua Diving Club and Andy Squirell, who provided the safety boats required to run the event and to The Smokey Mountain Boys who provided the musical entertainment at very short notice and the many sponsors who supported the event with raffle prizes and donations.
