A CORNISH powerlifter's hopes of reaching the Paralympics have received a boost, after she secured four new records and sponsorship from a top local company.

Jade Farrington, 26, was thrilled to land a £1,000 deal with Callington-based Ginsters to help fund her training. She celebrated the news by taking all four regional full power records at the able-bodied British Drug Free Powerlifting Association's (BDFPA) 2013 South West Divisional Powerlifting Championships: the squat, bench press, deadlift and total.

Jade's record-breaking 65kg bench press, 115kg deadlift and 50kg squat earned her a total of 230kg, gaining her a place at the national championships.

Jade, from Launceston, had already smashed the BDFPA's national single lift unequipped bench press record in the women's under 58.5kg weight category and taken a bronze medal in her first International Paralympic Committee (IPC) competition.
