BOTH the senior and junior races of the fourth Bude Lifeboat Run were officially started by Janet McCulley, Bude's own Olympic Torch bearer on Wednesday, June 13 at Bude Rugby Club.

With 115 juniors and 294 seniors taking part — a record number of entrants — competition was high, and the evening was a resounding success for organisers and participants alike. Sponsored by Outdoor Adventure and organised by the Launceston Road Runners, the RNLI fundraising event saw two strongly contested runs.

The first race starting at 6.30pm was the one mile junior race won by 14-year-old Charlie Meredith in an impressive six minutes and four seconds. Showing that the Bude Lifeboat Run is for everyone, the youngest runner, at just three-years-old, was Poppy Clothier. Poppy completed the circuit in 19 minutes and 33 seconds!
