A SMALL but determined team made their way from Bude Surf Lifesaving Club to Saunton Sands in Devon to compete at the National Nippers Competition recently.

With 28 clubs competing from all over the country, Bude ended up a very creditable 13th overall.

In some tough conditions, especially through torrential rain on the first day, the youngsters gave their all in the name of Bude's cause.

Whilst special mention has to be given to Louis Davey for gold in the beach sprint, Jago Attanayaka-Boralage for bronze in the beach flags, and Ella Henry Brock for her haul of one gold, two silver and one bronze, it must not be forgotten that this is actually a team sport and the whole squad deserve a well earned pat on the back.
