NORTH Cornwall MP and Floods Minister Dan Rogerson is urging local clubs and organisations to make the most of a new £5 million fund to help repair and restore sport pitches and facilities damaged by recent floods and storms.

The fund is being made available to sports clubs, local councils and other community organisations and can be used for emergency repairs to the likes of damaged pitches, club houses or changing rooms.

The funding has been provided to Sport England from the National Lottery.

Mr Rogerson said: "Sport plays a huge part in communities across Cornwall and getting local clubs and facilities back into use as quickly as possible is vital.

"It is really encouraging to see Sport England helping local groups to get back on their feet by repairing any damaged pitches and sports facilities.

"I'd urge local clubs and organisations in North Cornwall to make the most of this emergency funding."
