LAUNCESTON sailing star Saskia Sills has been crowned RYA Youth National Champion following five days of adrenaline-charged racing at Largs Sailing Club, Scotland.

As well as picking up the 2013 title and defending her 2012 crown in the RS:X Windsurfing fleet, 16-year-old Sills, who is a member at Roadford Lake Sailing Club, was announced as one of the 12 sailors who will represent Great Britain at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships 2013.

Leading the charge for the British Team will be 2012 ISAF Youth Worlds gold medallist Saskia.

The Cornish windsurfer, who won the event on her debut in Dublin in 2012 as well the Under 17 European title and silver at her class World Championships in Penghu, Chinese Taipei, last summer, dominated the female windsurfing fleet in Scotland to gain selection for a second consecutive year.

"It feels amazing to win the RYA Youth Nationals again as it gives me the chance to go back and defend my World title at the ISAF Youth Worlds," she commented.
