SEVEN members of the Zero Gravity Academy qualified for the British Schools Gymnastics Association (BSGA) National Trampoline Finals in Northern Ireland after finishing in the top three in their categories at the Southern Zone qualifiers in Kent on Sunday, January 28.

In total, 12 members of the academy, who train at Launceston and at Duchy College and were representing their schools, travelled to Gillingham.

The competition was extremely strong as all the competitors had qualified through from the various regions. To qualify for the National Finals on Saturday, March 24, the competitors had to achieve a top three placing in their age group and category. They were:

Oliver Vine (Delaware Primary School) — Under 11 Boys Intermediate (Winner); Daisy Heal (Mount Kelly Prep School) — Under 11 Girls Intermediate (Winner); Thomas Barriball (Home Schooled) —Under 11 Boys Novice (Winner); Arran Stannard-Heap (Callington Community College) — Under 13 Boys Intermediate (Winner); Emillie Hughes (Notre Dame School) — Under 13 Girls Disability Category 2 (Winner); Keira Moore (Tregadillett Primary School) — Under 11 Girls Novice (Runner-up); Ethan Baker (Tavistock College) — Under 11 Boys Novice (3rd)

The rest of the trampolinists all competed well and were all placed in the top half of their categories. They were:

Yasmin Rundle (Eggbuckland Primary School) — Under 11 Girls Novice (4th); Noah Ryder (Brunel Primary School) — Under 11 Boys Novice (4th); Imogen Spooncer (Plymouth Studio College) — Under 19 Girls Intermediate (4th); Madison Vine (Launceston College) — Under 13 Girls Intermediate (6th); Dylan Rundle (Callington Community College) — Under 13 Boys Novice (7th)

Reflecting on the day, head coach, Anne Dodds, said: “The weekend in Kent was a fantastic experience for all the children taking part and everyone excelled in their performances. We’re now looking forward to the preparation and trip to Northern Ireland and would like to thank all the families for their support in this achievement.”
