LAUNCESTON Junior Badminton Club were recently awarded £500 from Launceston Rotary Club towards the running costs of the club.

As ever with small clubs, finding enough investment can be tough, but the money given to them will help them with the cost of hiring the Launceston College Sports Hall as well as equipment such as shuttlecocks which cost £12 for a tube of 12.

Ran by coach Kerry Sillifant and her brother Liam, the club to encourage both primary and secondary ages to enjoy badminton in a safe and fun environment.

Each week there is a healthy turnout with usually 20 to 30 kids trying out the fast-paced racquet sport.

However the club are always looking to grow and are keen to attract new members to the club.
