LISKEARD Athletic are in danger of severing ties with the East Cornwall Premier League, of which they were founder members more than 55 years ago.

The club have players and an administrative system in place but desperately need to recruit a manager, preferably Cornish-based, to lead a team of primarily local lads. The last date for applications is Saturday, June 20, but if a suitable candidate is not found, the club may have to withdraw from the competition.

The club say the search does not affect their first team, which play in the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League, nor the new, youth-centred third team which hopes to be playing in the Duchy League for their first term in adult football. Anyone interested in the post, or requiring further information, should call Martin McHugh on 07701 048 399 or chairman Roger Williams on 07790 424 408.
