Liskeard & Looe youth section held their annual presentation at the Elliot House Hotel on Friday evening when some 130 players gathered to enjoy a meal served up by the coaches and volunteers, and to applaud team mates as the presentations were made.
Barry Mumford, the club secretary, retired from duty and was presented with an engraved glass tankard to express thanks for all the hard work he has put in over the years. While Barry has relinquished his post he will still be an active supporter of all things Liskeard & Looe and be around the club for many years to come.
Mark Wood received a special mention for the time he has given to the junior section in his capacity as a referee. Ex-Liskeard player Mark has refereed a number of fixtures for the youth section and his reading of the game and communication with the players on both sides makes for a well controlled and enjoyable rugby match.
Player of the season was shared this year by brothers Nathan and Thomas Wills both of whom have excelled and will be players to watch as they move to the adult game.
The Paddy Trathen Memorial Trophy was presented to Will Doidge and Tony Badnall. Will and Tony have worked tirelessly over the last decade bringing their own age group through from 7s to colts rugby while being active members of the youth committee.
Registration day for next season is Sunday, September 6, and the club welcomes new players, girls and boys.
It doesn't matter what level of player you are or if you have never played the game just go along.
