Duchy League Round-Up

Looe Town retain their record as the only unbeaten team in the Premier Division. They had a good 2-0 win at Saltash United with goals from Luke Cloke and Matt Barton and go to the top as a result.

St Stephen are recovering from a slow start to the season and secured their best result so far with a 2-1 success at Foxhole. Lee Reed-Bennett and Courtney Rowe traded goals in the first half with Craig Coad getting the Saints winner in the second half. Lostwithiel climbed off the bottom with a surprise 2-1 win over St Minver. Andy Seymour gave St Minver the lead but Nathan Goss scored twice before half time to turn the score around.

St Minver asserted great pressure on the home defence after the break but were unable to force an equaliser.

Premier Sixes fell to a first defeat of the season in Division One going down 2-1 at Grampound. The visitors passing movements caused the home side a lot of trouble in the first half with Grampound defending well to stay in the game. Sixes finally got a goal from the penalty spot from Aidan Martin before half time.

The second half saw the fortunes reversed with Grampound well on top, missing chances and striking the woodwork twice. Just as it seemed they wouldn’t break through, Ryan Morcom scored twice in the final quarter-hour to give Grampound the victory. Sixes hopes took a further dive with a late dismissal ending any hopes of a fight back.

Charlie Jones scored a hat trick for Gerrans and St Mawes United at Altarnun but was still on the losing side as the hosts won 6-3. Josh Smith and Walter Medlicott scored a brace apiece for Altarnun with Ryan Crabb and Tom Ellacott completing their tally.

More woes for St Newlyn East as they were beaten 12-0 at home by LC Phoenix. Jake Benney and Joe Davis both scored a brace. The other goals were shared between Eliot Astles, Dan Castle, Mike Steele, Ryan Julian, Nathan Cox, Jowan Knight, Josh Barron and Cameron Bailey.
