LAUNCESTON Hockey Club’s Under 10s mixed hockey team travelled to Penzance on Sunday (March 24) for their final round of group games knowing that a good display would put them within a chance of reaching second spot out of 11 teams in the U10 Mixed County In2Hockey League for 2019.
They played five games in total, winning four and drawing one.
This was in addition to them already having won 10, drawn three and losing just two over the previous three tournament dates. When the final results started to filter through, it was Launceston who were declared as runners-up which is a truly great achievement against 10 other teams who have first class facilities, including a full size hockey pitch!
Coaches Andy Berry and Dee Kirwin said: “This amazing success is added to to the recent success of the whole Launceston Youth Hockey Club set-up where both the Under 12 girls and Under 14 boys were crowned county champions earlier in February and the Under 12 boys came an excellent third.
“Next week the hockey club will hold their annual AGM and presentation night on Thursday, April 4 at 7pm at Trethorne, where it certainly will be a great night.”
