IT MIGHT only be November but Launceston’s trip to Devonport Services tomorrow (2.30pm) will give the Cornishmen a big idea of whether they are in with a shout of the Regional One South West title.

Launceston have enjoyed a superb campaign so far, winning seven of their eight games, and if they win their game in-hand at Brixham next Saturday, could be right up next to leaders Chew Valley who were beaten at Polson Bridge last weekend.

That victory gave the All Blacks a massive boost, and with the Services, Brixham and Exmouth to come in the next 15 days, a healthy collection of points will be welcomed.

Plymouth-based Devonport are riding high in second themselves with seven wins and just two defeats to their name, and to add further intrigue to the contest, are set to include three former Launceston players in their squad including props Rikki Bentham and James McFarlane and skipper Shaun Crawford at inside-centre.

However the visitors have plenty of threats in their own and make one change from the victory over Chew Valley.

Charlie Short has failed to recover from injury with Mitch Hawken keeping his place at tighthead-prop, while the experienced Todd Crofts is in once more after a solid showing last weekend on debut.

With Cam Fogden available again after a weekend away, he comes in at outside-centre with Ben Bryant moving to the right wing. Ollie Bebbington is the man to miss out.

At Polson Bridge, Launceston Castles welcome table-toppers Hayle in Counties Cornwall Three (2.30pm).

The West Cornwall outfit have won all nine of their games since being relegated, but the Castles have won five on the spin and name a strong side, including first team hopefuls Jamie Chapman and Ollie Bebbington in the centres.

Prop Simon Burden returns to add some experience to the pack, although the free-scoring Mike Reddan is injured and replaced by Richard Jasper on the right wing.

Flanker George Bone is fit again and will come off the bench.
