LAUNCESTON and North Cornwall Motor Club recently held their awards presentation at Trethorne Leisure Farm.
The evening attracted many of the club’s members and competitors from all the events that were held in 2019. Following an excellent meal, award winners were presented with an impressive display of trophies, some of which date back to the 1920s.
Films were shown of motorsport events that the club had organised going back to the 1950s, which attracted a lot of interest. 2020 is a very significant year for the club as it has now been in existence for 100 years, the club having originally been formed in 1920, making it one of the oldest motor clubs in the country.
To celebrate this centenary, a number of special events will be held during the year including a dedicated display in Lawrence House Museum from August 1 to October 31. This will show the history of the club with pictures, films, trophies, memorabilia and stories about some of the most famous events and members of the club over the years. There will also be a car and bike display in Launceston on August 1 to enable the public to view some of the many fascinating vehicles that have been used by the club over the decades.
Club members will be in attendance to explain more about the vehicles and the disciplines in which they competed.
Launceston and North Cornwall Motor Club run a number of trials events during the year, some of which are national championship status. Spectators are always welcome and details can be found at www.lncmc.co.uk or by searching ‘Launceston & North Cornwall Motor Club’ on Facebook.
