Duchy League Round Up — October 31

LOOE Town went back to the top of the Premier Division beating St Dominick 7-0 in the only fixture in the division on this Junior Cup day.

The club’s main striking options did all the damage with Luke Cloke scoring a hat-trick and Matt Barton and Kieran Faulkner getting a brace apiece.

Sticker failed to close the gap significantly on the Division One leaders after drawing 2-2 at home with LC Phoenix. On the back of four straight defeats Sticker were looking for a change of fortune and got off to the best possible start with a goal in the first minute. A sharp ground shot from Sam Fogarty beat Nick Oldaker in the visitors’ goal all ends up.

Phoenix were not behind for long though and equalised with a looping header over the home ‘keeper from attacking-midfielder Cameron Bailey.

Both sides played good quality entertaining football throughout the remainder of the half with the visiting ‘keeper being the busier of the two, making some top quality saves.

The second half continued in similar vein with Sticker pushing hard and keeping the opposition custodian busy with some more excellent saves.

With time running out, the home side edged in front with a fine header from an unmarked Adam Cleaves. Phoenix didn’t give up and deep into added time they equalised for a second time with a powerful shot from player-manager Ryan Cox, sending the visiting support and players wild.

Celebrations at the bottom as St Newlyn East scored their first goals and picked up their first point of the season. They drew 2-2 at home to Gunnislake to give some reward to those players and committee that have stuck with them during the difficult times the club has faced this season. Craig Allen and Adam Williams were the home marksmen. Gunnislake replied through Keiran Jasper and Simon Kelly.

Boscastle were held two all at home by Stoke Climsland in a Division Two clash. The Capstick’s, Danny and Sam scored for Boscastle. Stoke picked up a valuable point through goals from Tom Savage and Alex Manuel.

Holywell/Cubert Athletic remain unbeaten in second place after an impressive 7-2 win at North Hill. Ashley Williams, Peter Bruce and Lee Mann all struck twice for the visitors — Mann’s brace taking his tally to 12 for the season. Mike Deacy with his first completed the Holywell scoring with James Bloomfield and Jason Ridgment replying for North Hill.

Tregrehan Mills consolidated top place in Division Three with a closely fought 3-2 defeat of Delabole United. Lewis Husband gave them the lead with a breakaway goal. Aaron Arnold equalised from a corner and Kieran Barrett then scored a fine solo goal finishing with a low strike into the net as the visitors went into the break ahead. Dean Dingle equalised from the edge of the box in the second half and then scored what proved the winner 15 minutes from time. Delabole can feel unlucky not to get anything from the game as they hit the woodwork twice after half time.

Gorran go equal second after their 4-1 win over North Petherwin reserves. Dave Jones, Tom Guest, Declan Byrne and James Rogers scored for Gorran with Kenny Channing hitting the Petherwin consolation.

High Street were held two all at home by St Minver reserves. Ryan Best of High Street and Ben Cleave of St Minver scored a brace apiece.
