The local rugby season is now down to the final half a dozen fixtures with clubs looking to cement their spots in their respective divisions, and features heavily in this week's Post Series sports section.
Launceston are one of those and welcomed Brixham looking to make it five wins on the spin in Regional One South West. However, the Fishermen continued their own fine form with a narrow 18-17. Inside is a report and pictures from a riveting contest, while we also hear from joint head coach Ian Goldsmith on the game.
Elsewhere it was a tough weekend for Bude’s men’s teams.The firsts, missing more than half of their first choice side, were hammered 101-5 at leaders Cullompton while the seconds were beaten by title-chasing Perranporth in Counties Three Cornwall.
Launceston Ladies had the biggest day in their history when they visited Dings Crusaders in the last 16 of the Women’s Junior Cup, however they were well beaten in Bristol as Dan Pearce reports.
Away from the rugby, it was also a frustrating weekend for the Post area’s SWPL clubs, with reports on all the games.
In Premier East, Holsworthy were beaten 1-0 by high-flying Ivybridge Town, while in Premier West, Bude needed a 94th minute equaliser from Billy Hopcroft to earn them a draw against fellow top four hopefuls Wadebridge Town. Camelford lost 1-0 at Penzance.

Bude Hockey Club’s seniors had a mixed weekend with the men winning 7-1 at Bodmin Seconds to keep their promotion push on track, while the ladies were edged out at leaders Devonport Services on Sunday in Division Two South of the West Women's Hockey League.
