LAUNCESTON Road Runners’ annual road race, the Treggy 7, took place on Sunday, September 3 in atrocious conditions.
This popular race continues to grow and was full to capacity.
Despite the very inclement weather conditions, runners, marshals and supporters turned out in force to brave the wind and rain.
The race began in the town square and followed a picturesque route out to Tregadillett via Underlane, returning to finish on a wet and windy castle green.
Launceston Road Runners gave a good account of themselves, with Jeanette Johnson (Female Vet 50-54) and Jenny Mills (Female Vet 65-69) both winning their respective age categories.
Meanwhile, Tim Robinson came eighth overall in a time of 42 minutes and 15 seconds while club chairman Edward Horn was 14th (43:24).
Although not affiliated to the club, Launceston’s Carl Aldridge performed brilliantly to finish fourth overall in 41 minutes and 24 seconds.
In the team events, Launceston’s Vets came first with the ladies in a very respectable third.
Presentations over tea and cake gave everyone the chance to dry off at race HQ in the town hall following the race.
Launceston Road Runners expressed their thanks to all their sponsors for their support and help in making the day the success it is, before the runners and supporters alike thanked race directors, Kevin and Vin Marshall, and their team, for such a well-organised and enjoyable event.
