Trelawney Division One

Camborne SOM 2

BUDE remain just one point behind league leaders Penzance in their quest for the Trelawney Division One title after Zara Higham’s hat-trick helped them to a 6-2 victory over Camborne School of Mines at Budehaven School.

With only four games remaining, Bude couldn’t afford any slip-ups and started positively as the midfield dominated.

The home side were rewarded for their lively start when the in-form Charlotte Prime fired home after good work from Emily Shepherd.

This seemed to wake up the SOM but found the home defence to tough to get through.

Manager Alan Muller made a change up front, which was an instant success as Anna Bury scored from a rebound from Erinne Bickle’s short corner strike.

Bude were creating from both sides of the pitch and it was Tammy Snowsill and Di Old who were pivotal in the next goal as Snowsill drove into the D and squared the ball for Zara Higham to fire in from a couple of yards out.

CSM continued to fight and pulled a goal back before half-time.

Muller told his side to pass and move during the interval and they scored a sublime fourth.

A flowing move involving Snowsill, Prime and Shepherd ended with Bickle sidestepping the keeper and firing home.

To their credit the visitors kept plugging away and finally grabbed their second of the afternoon after fine goalkeeping and poor finishing had previously denied them.

But Bude were irresistible in attack and added two further goal from Higham who finished off some excellent team moves after fine work by Prime and Di Old.

Bude are in action once more next weekend when they make the long trip to Falmouth.
