BUDEHAVEN School PE teacher Simon Hammond has been awarded the English Rugby Football Unions 'Real Rugby Hero' award at Twickenham this week for his coaching and services to grass roots rugby.
Simon, also a member of Bude Rugby Club, has been coaching a team of boys for the last seven years who are currently in Budehaven's year 10. He said: "We've got a great bunch of boys who are a pleasure to work with.
"I'm lucky in that I work largely with the same group both in and out of school and have some great support from fellow coaches Steve Drew and Phil Thomas at Bude Rugby Club."
