TWENTY golfing heroes overcame adversity in the form of a severe hailstorm to play their part in a most memorable Cornish Bowl Semi-Final at St Endonoc on Sunday.
A tough course at the best of times, St Enodoc was, on the day, lashed by rain and hail in 60mph squalls from which there was no respite. There was nowhere to hide for the players; they had to just play through the worst of it and keep smiling.
Playing a foursomes format, alternate drives and alternate shots, five pairs from Trethorne played five pairs from Carlyon Bay. After the first four matches, the scores were level on two matches each.
