HELLAND A have opened up an 18 point lead at the top of Division One of the North Cornwall Table Tennis League after thrashing Crackington A, 10-0.
Crackington made the trip with just two players as Frank Barnes was unavailable and the B and C teams were short.
Despite being given automatically three matches, the home trio of Ingus Abolnieks, Ritchie Bartlett and Mike Fisher were in fine form.
Helland B put in a decent performance at Torridge who moved up to third with a 6-4 win.
David Streak continued his 100% winning record for the season while Jill Knightley also did well in winning two.
For Helland, who had David Maclennan making his first appearance of the season, Jim Rickwood won two of his outings with Chris Baverstock and Maclennan both beating Bob Montague.
In Division Two, Budehaven B are the only unbeaten side remaining as they edged out Whitstone Wanderers 6-4 in a game, which could easily have gone either way.
Whitstone led 2-0 as Doug Genini beat Ashley Taylor in the final game before Barry Stearman came from 2-0 down and 5-0 down in the decider to beat David Sillifant.
However, the home side fought back with Owen Salisbury leading the charge as he won all three of his encounters.
The teenager became the first man to beat Barry Stearman this season while wins for Sillifant and Taylor both individually and in the doubles made it 5-2.
To the visitors’ credit, Rob Woodhouse and Stearman both won their final matches of the evening, but in the end the home side edged home.
Crackington A are now just two points behind Whitstone in second as they won 7-3 at North Hill B.
The home side were able to call on the services of 13-year-old Angharad Beman who dropped just one set all night.
Despite her success, the Crackington trio of Keiron Chatterjea, Robin Evans and Zach Parker all won their outings, although the final two matches of the night went to five sets, leaving North Hill disappointed not to get a draw.
The rearranged match between Launceston and Bridgerule A went the way of the home side as they won 8-2.
Stephen Parsons won three out of three for Launceston while Karen Horrell and Lois Atkin both won two, the latter picking up her first wins of the season.
For Bridgerule it was again Alan Quilter who grabbed both of their points as he beat Horrell 13-11 in the decider but lost 12-10 to Parsons in a marathon encounter.
Crackington C are the new leaders of Division Three as they won 5-0 at Budehaven D while Budehaven F?picked up their first win of the season in Division Three as they beat fellow strugglers North Hill C, 3-2.
Ezra Jukes won both matches for the first time ever while his uncle Andrew won once.
Helen Aplin grabbed North Hill’s point in the singles and with Jill Diggory in the doubles.
